Stay active to relieve back pain

Those who spend 10 hours sitting each day should stay active for 40 to 50 minutes daily.

A study conducted in the United States found that individuals with obesity can protect themselves from back pain and other medical complications by staying active. American researchers examined 64 obese participants (excluding those with diabetes) and observed how sitting compares to staying active in terms of health risks.

They noted that participants who were active for 20 minutes daily or reduced their sitting time by 40 minutes experienced a progressive decrease in back pain. Sitting impairs insulin production and increases muscle fat, raising the chances of obesity and pain, including back pain.

By sitting less and being more active, the accumulation of fat in muscles and other parts of the body is significantly reduced, which improves insulin levels and alleviates back pain. The experts recommended that individuals who sit for 10 hours a day should aim to be active for 40 to 50 minutes daily. This can not only reduce back pain but also substantially lower the risk of weight gain.
